The Impact of Motion-induced Blur on Out-the-window Visual System Performance
نویسندگان
چکیده
1 All visual display system technologies have visual artifacts, or perceptual features that would not be present in a naturally-viewed scene. The characteristics of certain light-valve technologies, specifically Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) and Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCoS), exhibit a blurring artifact with image motion. In this paper, the causes of this artifact will be reviewed. Current knowledge regarding the impact of this artifact on both perception and simulator task performance will also be reviewed, and methods for reducing motioninduced blur will be discussed.

Improving Super-resolution Techniques via Employing Blurriness Information of the Image
Super-resolution (SR) is a technique that produces a high resolution (HR) image via employing a number of low resolution (LR) images from the same scene. One of the degradations that attenuates performance of the SR is the blurriness of the input LR images. In many previous works in the SR, the blurriness of the LR images is assumed to be due to the integral effect of the image sensor of the im...
متن کاملThe Effect of Window Configuration on Daylight Performance in Classrooms: A Field and Simulation Study
Daylight in classrooms is a critical factor in school design, in terms of its impact on students’ health, learning and visual performance. Providing adequate amount of evenly distributed daylight and glare prevention are important challenges in classroom design. Window configuration significantly affects the intensity and uniformity of daylight. This paper aims to investigate the effect o...
متن کاملThe influence of respiratory motion on dose distribution of 3D-CRT and IMRT- A simulation study
Background: 3DCRT (three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy) and IMRT (intensity-modulated radiotherapy) has provided us with tools to delineate the radiation dose distribution of tumor targets. However, the precision of radiation can be compromised by respiratory motion, which usually limits the geometric and dosimetric accuracy of radiotherapy. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the imp...
متن کاملMotion deblurring in human vision
Under normal viewing conditions we are little conscious of blur in moving objects, despite the persistence of vision. Moving objects look more blurred in brief than in long exposures, suggesting an active mechanism for suppressing motion blur. To see whether blur suppression would improve visual discrimination of objects, we measured blur discrimination thresholds for moving Gaussian-blurred ed...
متن کاملVisual Blur in Immersive Virtual Environments: Does Depth of Field or otion Blur Affect Distance and Speed Estimation?
It is known for decades that users tend to significantly underestimate or overestimate distances or speed in immersive virtual environments (IVEs) compared to corresponding judgments in the real world. Although several factors have been identified in the past that could explain small portions of this effect, the main causes of these perceptual discrepancies still remain elusive. One of the fact...
